Where to Stay in Cannes, France
Are you wondering where to stay in Cannes, France?
These are the best hotels in Cannes for a great stay! I recently spent two weeks in Cannes, so I am very familiar with the area and I know all the best places to stay in this iconic French Riviera town.
Cannes is a glamorous resort town that is famous for its international film festival, which has been happening annually since 1938. It’s located on the French Riviera about 35 minutes from Nice.
Aside from the film festival, Cannes is known as a stop for luxury yachts along the French Riviera. Cannes also has a charming old town called Le Suquet, with narrow cobblestone streets from medieval times.
Best Hotels in Cannes
One thing to know about hotels in Cannes is that none of them are truly on the beach. The famous Boulevard de la Croisette, known for its plethora of high-end designer stores, runs right in front of the beach, so all the “beachfront” hotels are actually on the other side, just across the street from the beach.
Some hotels have a “private beach” but you’ll still need to cross the street and get to it. And many of the “private beaches” are really just docks extending into the sea with sun loungers and space to swim.
So if you’re looking for a beachfront resort along the Riviera with a huge private beach, you won’t find it in Cannes. That being said, there are still plenty of great hotels in Cannes for every taste and budget.
Personally, my favorite area of Cannes is near the old harbor and the old town. There’s a great beach on this side of town called Midi Beach that I prefer to the bustling Croisette Beach. You can still walk to that side of Cannes in about 15 minutes, but it’s a much quieter and more pleasant area to stay in.
Here are my top picks for where to stay in Cannes, France:
- Best splurge-worthy hotel: Carlton Cannes
- Best Old Town hotel: Hôtel & Spa Belle Plage
