- Explore the historic Bahia Palace, famous for its gorgeous architecture
- Pay a visit to the Saadian Tombs, a royal resting place
Now let’s get into the best places to stay in Marrakech…
Where I Stayed in Marrakech
I stayed at Le Méridien N’Fis on my trip to Marrakech for one main reason — I had Marriott points to use, and this five-star hotel offers an excellent redemption value for Marriott points.
At only 10,000 to 15,000 points per night, it’s a great value compared to similar five-star hotels in other parts of the world. If you don’t have Marriott points, the hotel is around $150 to $200 a night.
I would recommend staying here if you’re looking for a five-star hotel at a more affordable price point. I loved the property itself, which featured beautiful gardens, as well as amenities like a swimming pool and a fitness center. The hotel is also in a good location, but it’s about a 30-minute walk to the medina.
If I were to return to Marrakech in the future, I’d love to experience a more traditional riad inside the medina (old part of the city) but I couldn’t pass up a free stay here by using Marriott points!
Best Hotels in Marrakech
When it comes to hotels in Marrakech, you have your typical Western-style hotels (like Le Méridien N’Fis where I stayed) and then you have riads, which are traditional Moroccan guesthouses.
Riads are typically small, with fewer than a dozen rooms. They range from extremely luxurious to simple and basic, so you can easily find a riad for every budget. Staying at a riad is a great experience to have in Morocco. Most riads are like B&Bs and also include breakfast each morning during your stay.
Some fancier riads will have amenities like swimming pools, spas, and rooftop terraces.
You will primarily find riads inside the medina of Marrakech, with its maze of narrow, winding streets and alleyways. Larger hotels are typically located outside the medina in Marrakech.
Here are my top picks for where to stay in Marrakech, Morocco:
- Best luxury hotel: Sofitel Marrakech Palais Imperial and Spa
- Best riad: Riad Les Hirondelles Boutique Hotel
- Best hostel: The Central House Marrakech Medina

Sofitel Marrakech Palais Imperial and Spa
Sofitel Marrakech Palais Imperial and Spa is one of the best five-star hotels in Marrakech. Located about a 15-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa Square and the medina, this hotel is in a good location for exploring all that the city has to offer. It’s also an incredibly beautiful and luxurious hotel.
This is the place to stay if you want to splurge on your trip to Marrakech. The property features lush gardens, multiple swimming pools, a fitness center, and a spa with a hammam and a hot tub.

Nobu Hotel Marrakech
Another one of the top luxury hotels in Marrakech is Nobu Hotel Marrakech. This is definitely one of the priciest hotels in Marrakech so I’d only recommend staying here if you’re looking to splurge. However, the cost is worth it if you want to indulge in a five-star experience on your trip to Marrakech.
The hotel has plenty of amenities to enjoy including multiple swimming pools (including a rooftop pool with sun loungers) and a spa. A delicious breakfast buffet is also included each morning. Nobu Hotel Marrakech is also about a 15-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa Square and the medina.

Le Meridien N’fis
As I mentioned, Le Meridien N’fis is where I stayed in Marrakech. This is definitely a more affordable luxury hotel in Marrakech, although it’s still pricier than staying in a riad inside the medina. My favorite things about this hotel were the lush gardens and the swimming pool. There’s also a spa and a fitness center.
A good breakfast is also included each morning at this hotel. The location is a little further from the medina (about a 30-minute walk and you will want to take a taxi at night) but one thing I liked was that the hotel was right across the street from Menara Mall, an upscale mall with lots of shops and restaurants.

Nestled in the heart of the historic medina, Riad Les Hirondelles Boutique Hotel is one of the best hotels in Marrakech. This riad is just minutes away from some of the top attractions in Marrakech, including Madrasa Ben Youssef, the House of Photography, and the many souks of the medina.
Guests staying at this hotel will enjoy beautifully decorated rooms and amenities like a rooftop terrace and plunge pool. A delicious free breakfast is also included each morning during your stay.

Riad Le Petit Joyau
While many riads in Marrakech are inside the medina, Riad Le Petit Joyau is not. It’s just outside the medina in a historic part of the city, a 5-minute walk from the Saadian Tombs and a 10-minute walk from Bahia Palace. This hotel is also a 15-minute walk from bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa Square.
This riad is a tranquil oasis in the heart of the busy city, and it’s the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for luxury on a budget. Amenities include a rooftop terrace and an indoor swimming pool.

Riad Fleur d’Orient is another one of the top-rated riads in Marrakech for an amazing stay. This luxurious riad is located in the medina really close to Bacha Coffee, my favorite cafe in Marrakech.

Riad Jnan El Cadi
Riad Jnan El Cadi is another great place to stay in the medina of Marrakech. This riad offers comfort and luxury at an affordable price point, and it’s a convenient location for exploring Marrakech.

The Central House Marrakech Medina
Finally, one of the best places to stay in Marrakech if you’re on a budget is The Central House Marrakech Medina. This riad and hostel has a great central location right in the midst of the medina.
It offers private rooms as well as shared dorm rooms, perfect for travelers on a tight budget. And even though you’ll be saving money, you won’t be sacrificing quality when you stay here. The Central House Marrakech Medina has a stylish, clean design, an indoor swimming pool, and a rooftop terrace.
