I visited Warsaw in December and quickly fell in love with this city, which is the capital of Poland. Although most of the city’s Old Town was sadly destroyed by bombing during World War II, it was completely rebuilt and restored by the Polish people after the war. I stayed near the Old Town in Warsaw.
This is a great area to stay in, especially around the holidays because the Christmas decorations are amazing and you’ll be within easy walking distance of the Old Town’s Christmas markets.
Here are some of the top things to do in Warsaw:
- Stroll around the quaint, compact Old Town of Warsaw
- Walk along the Royal Route, the mainly pedestrianized street leading to the Old Town
- Climb up the Old Town Observation Tower for great views
- Enjoy a Chopin concert at Fryderyk Concert Hall
- Take a tour of the Royal Castle in Warsaw
- Visit the Warsaw Uprising Museum if you’re interested in history (free on Mondays)
- Visit the beautiful Wilanów Palace (amazing lights display at Christmas!)
- Learn how to cook Polish dumplings, or pierogis, at a cooking class

Where I Stayed in Warsaw
I stayed at Hotel Bristol in Warsaw and I would highly recommend this hotel.
Part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection, Hotel Bristol is an amazing five-star luxury hotel situated on the Royal Route right across the street from the Presidential Palace (which I had a view of from my room!)
It’s just a 10-minute stroll down the Royal Route to get to Warsaw’s Old Town from Hotel Bristol. This was a very convenient location for exploring the whole city and I found it to be the perfect base.
The hotel itself was also excellent, and it was decked out beautifully for Christmas.
The rooms at Hotel Bristol are comfortable and spacious, and many offer direct views onto the Royal Route. Amenities at this hotel include a full-service spa and an indoor swimming pool.

Hotel Bristol
As I mentioned above, Hotel Bristol is where I stayed in Warsaw and I highly recommend it. This hotel was perfect for exploring all that the city had to offer, and just a 10-minute walk from the Old Town.
It’s a great luxury hotel and yet like most of the five-star hotels in Poland, it’s a lot cheaper than what you would pay for a five-star hotel elsewhere in Europe, making it a good value for money too.

Raffles Europejski Warsaw
Raffles Europejski Warsaw is another one of the best luxury hotels in the city. This five-star hotel is located just across from Hotel Bristol so it also has an excellent location along the Royal Route.
This hotel dates back to the 1850s but it has been beautifully restored with a modern, chic style. Amenities at this hotel include a spa, a sauna, a fitness center, and an indoor swimming pool.

Hotel Bellotto
