How do you get to Hallstatt? Hallstatt is about one hour and 15 minutes from Salzburg by car. It’s possible to get to Hallstatt via public transportation, but it will require a series of trains and/or buses and take several hours. That’s why it’s best to visit Hallstatt on your own with a rental car, or on a tour.
Should I stay overnight in Hallstatt? While Hallstatt is quite small and you can easily see it on a day trip, staying overnight allows you more time to really explore this beautiful town and its surroundings. I recommend staying here for at least one or even two nights if you can, because it’s worth it!
