Best Hotels in Tallinn, Estonia
Are you looking for the best hotels in Tallinn, Estonia?
This guide to where to stay in Tallinn contains the best options for every budget.
Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is located on the Baltic Sea. Its strategic location as a port city means that Tallinn has been an important place throughout its long history. Tallinn’s historic Old Town is beautifully preserved and dates back to the 13th century, while other parts of the city are more modern.
The blend of old and new makes Tallinn a fascinating place to visit. Estonia only gained its independence in 1991, so it’s still a country finding its current identity and the city of Tallinn reflects that.
I’ve been to Tallinn twice now, and I really enjoy the city. The Old Town is impossibly quaint and charming, but you should also check out cool and modern neighborhoods like Telliskivi Creative City.
How many days do you need in Tallinn? Two full days is enough to see the highlights of Tallinn, although you could spend another day based in Tallinn if you wanted to take a day trip. There are several national parks not far from Tallinn, and it’s even possible to take the ferry to Helsinki, Finland for the day.
Where to Stay in Tallinn, Estonia
As far as European capitals go, Tallinn is fairly small, with a population of 450,000.
If you’re wondering what part of Tallinn to stay in, I recommend staying in or around the Old Town. There are limited hotels within the walls of the Old Town, but you’ll find many more options outside the Old Town that are still within easy walking distance of all the top things to do in Tallinn.
Getting around in Tallinn is easy. There’s a robust network of buses, trolleys, and trams, and taxis and Ubers are extremely cheap (think $3 to $5 for getting almost anywhere within the city.)

Nordic Hotel Forum
Nordic Hotel Forum is where I spent three nights on my most recent trip to Tallinn, and I really enjoyed it! Full disclosure, I worked with Visit Tallinn on this trip and received a complimentary hotel stay. However, I would definitely stay at this hotel again and think it’s a great value for travelers.
The hotel is located less than five minutes from Tallinn’s Old Town and it’s right by a convenient tram stop too. So it has a great location for exploring the city. The rooms are modern, clean, comfortable, and very quiet despite overlooking a busy road. Some of my favorite things about the hotel?
There’s a heated indoor swimming pool and a hot tub for guests to enjoy on the top floor! And this hotel offers a really delicious free buffet breakfast each morning for all guests — I loved all the variety!
