Where to Stay in Vancouver Before a Cruise
Are you wondering where to stay in Vancouver before a cruise?
Read on to discover the best pre-cruise or post-cruise hotels near the Vancouver cruise port!
Vancouver, Canada is a popular cruise port, especially in the summer months. Most commonly, Alaska cruises depart from Vancouver from May through September. Other cruises from Vancouver sail to destinations along the Pacific Coast, or to even more exotic ports of call like Hawaii and Mexico.
I always recommend arriving in the departure city of your cruise at least one night in advance. While your cruise ship may not actually leave until late afternoon or early evening, you don’t want to risk a flight arriving that morning, because any delays could cause you to miss your entire trip.
If your cruise is departing out of Vancouver, I recommend arriving a day or two early to do some sightseeing before you leave. You could also stay an additional day upon your return to Vancouver.
Below I’ve rounded up some of the best hotels in Vancouver near the cruise port.
Where Is the Vancouver Cruise Port?
Where exactly do cruise ships depart and arrive in Vancouver? All cruise ships depart and arrive from Canada Place Cruise Terminal, which is conveniently located right in the heart of Downtown.
The full address of Canada Place Cruise Terminal is 999 Canada Pl, Vancouver, BC V6C 3E1, Canada.
The cruise terminal is located less than nine miles from Vancouver International Airport, and it’s about a 30-minute drive or a 30-minute SkyTrain ride directly from the airport on the Canada Line.
Where Should You Stay?
Since Canada Place Cruise Terminal is right in the midst of Downtown Vancouver, there are tons of hotels within easy walking distance. There’s nothing more convenient than walking just a few minutes from your hotel to the cruise terminal. All of the hotels listed below are within walking distance of it.
Vancouver’s Downtown is a great area to stay in not just because of its proximity to the cruise port, but also because it’s a lively neighborhood with lots of shopping, dining, and attractions.
I do want to note that while Downtown Vancouver is safe, I would avoid staying in the nearby neighborhoods of Gastown and Downtown Eastside because of high rates of homelessness, drug use, and so on. It’s best to stick to Downtown and the neighborhoods west of it for your time in Vancouver.
Here are my top picks for where to stay in Vancouver before a cruise:
- Best overall: Pan Pacific Vancouver
- Best luxury hotel: Fairmont Waterfront
- Best mid-range hotel: Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront
