Where to Stay in Saint-Tropez
Are you wondering where to stay in Saint-Tropez, France?
Saint-Tropez is one of the most iconic destinations on the French Riviera. This resort town gained popularity with the jet-set crowd in the 1950s and it remains a glamorous summer hotspot today.
Located on the furthest end of the Côte d’Azur region, Saint-Tropez is about 1 hour and 45 minutes by car from Nice, which is where you’ll find the largest international airport. You can also fly into Toulon Hyères Airport, which is a smaller airport with some European flights, and just 1 hour from Saint-Tropez.
Saint-Tropez is famous for its designer shopping and luxury boutiques, chic dining and nightlife, and amazing beach clubs. There’s also a lovely historic Old Town and a scenic harbor in Saint-Tropez.
Is It Worth Staying in Saint-Tropez?
You might be wondering if it’s worth staying in Saint-Tropez, or if you should base yourself somewhere else along the French Riviera instead. And that’s actually a really good question to consider!
While I love Saint-Tropez, it’s further out of the way than many other French Riviera destinations. I would consider staying in Nice or Cannes if you’re looking for more convenience. Nice has a big city atmosphere and is more affordable, whereas Cannes is pretty comparable to Saint-Tropez but more convenient.
Personally, I have spent a lot of time in Cannes and I prefer Saint-Tropez. I think the town is nicer overall and has more things to do. It’s a great place to stay if you’re looking for more of an escape!
But keep in mind there’s no train station in Saint-Tropez and you really need a car to get around.
