Where to Stay in Lucerne, Switzerland
Wondering where to stay in Lucerne, Switzerland? Read on for the best hotels for every budget!
Lucerne is a small Swiss city with a fairytale atmosphere. Located on the Reuss River and Lake Lucerne, and surrounded by snow-capped mountains, the scenery around the city is breathtaking. Lucerne is also home to one of the best-preserved Old Towns in Switzerland, which is where I recommend staying.
The Old Town is compact and walkable, with several pedestrian bridges spanning the Reuss River. The most notable of these is Chapel Bridge, a long, wooden covered bridge dating back to the 14th century. Rising above the Old Town, the Musegg Wall is a historic fortification with nine defensive towers.
Lucerne is a charming place to spend a couple of relaxing days, and it also makes a great base for exploring more of Switzerland by train or by car, thanks to its very central location. I personally prefer Lucerne to larger cities like Zurich, and I think it’s the perfect destination for a multi-day stay in Switzerland.
