As I mentioned, there are quite a few hotels in Agra that are close to the Taj Mahal. I wouldn’t worry about being too close to the Taj Mahal, though, because it doesn’t really matter if you’re within walking distance or not. It’s so cheap to take a quick taxi or hop in a tuk-tuk to actually get to the entrance.
There are a couple of different entrances to the Taj Mahal that are open (Eastern Gate and Western Gate), so if your hotel is within walking distance of the Taj Mahal, double-check which gate it’s closest to. The Eastern Gate usually has fewer crowds. From both entrances, it’s a ten- to fifteen-minute walk to get to the Taj Mahal. You can also hop in a golf cart for a short ride to the entrance for a small fee.

The Oberoi Amarvilas Agra is the best place to stay near the Taj Mahal if you’re looking for an unforgettable luxury experience. This five-star hotel offers amazing Taj Mahal views from every room.
The rooms are decorated in an opulent style, and some also feature private balconies. There’s a swimming pool and a spa at the property, and a delicious buffet breakfast is included in the morning.
