This makes Puerto Viejo a popular destination for travelers who want a chill and laidback beach vacation. Puerto Viejo is known for its beautiful beaches, like Playa Cocles and Playa Chiquita. It’s also one of the best surfing destinations on the Caribbean side of the country, with cheap lessons for beginners.
Additionally, the beautiful Cahuita National Park is nearby, along with the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. Both of these are great spots for hiking and spotting wildlife.
