Best Resorts in Antigua
Antigua is one of my favorite islands in the Caribbean. It’s the largest and most populated of the two islands that make up the island nation of Antigua and Barbuda, but it feels a little underrated.
Although Antigua might not be the first destination that comes to mind when you’re thinking of where to go on a Caribbean getaway, I can’t recommend this island more highly! It offers the perfect combination of amazing beaches, jaw-dropping scenery, and a friendly, laidback Caribbean atmosphere.
The island is also known for its history as a former British colony, with the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Nelson’s Dockyard being a major draw. Antigua is also a hotspot for sailing and yachting.
You can fly nonstop to St. John’s, Antigua from a handful of cities across the United States and Canada, and there’s also a direct flight from London. It may not be as well-known as some of the more popular Caribbean islands, but after visiting around a dozen, I can confidently say Antigua is one of the best!
Below, I’ve rounded up the best resorts in Antigua for the perfect stay. These are my top picks based on extensive research, and I’ve included options for travelers of all budgets and travel styles.
Where to Stay in Antigua
Antigua is fairly small and roughly circular, with a total area of 108 square miles. You will find amazing beaches around the entire island, so there’s no one best “side” to stay on. And since the island is pretty compact, it’s easy to venture outside your resort to visit other places without having to go too far.
You’ll find a lot of all-inclusive resorts in Antigua, as well as beach resorts with à la carte food and beverage options. I’ve included a mix of both below, starting with the all-inclusive resorts.
Here are my top picks for where to stay in Antigua:
- Best adults-only all-inclusive: Hammock Cove Antigua
- Best couples-only all-inclusive: Keyonna Beach Antigua
- Best historic resort: Admiral’s Inn and Gunpowder Suites
- Best luxury resort: Tamarind Hills Resort & Villas

Hammock Cove Antigua
Hammock Cove is an adults-only all-inclusive resort in Antigua featuring chic private bungalows. I love that each bungalow here comes with your own private plunge pool too, and many have beach views.
Guests staying at this resort will have access to a private beach, as well as three main swimming pools and a spa. There are three restaurants and four bars on the property, with all food and drinks included.
COCOS Hotel Antigua
Another one of the best resorts is COCOS Hotel Antigua, which is another adults-only all-inclusive resort in Antigua. I think this would be the perfect place to stay for a relaxing beach getaway.
The Caribbean-style cottages here offer private plunge pools and spacious porches with hammocks, perfect for lazing around in the afternoon. You also have access to a beautiful beach where you can swim, snorkel, or sunbathe. There’s also a main swimming pool and a spa with various treatment options.
The Verandah Antigua
The Verandah Antigua is another great adults-only all-inclusive resort. The rooms here are bungalow-style, offering you more privacy. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and lush, with a tranquil private beach. The Devil’s Bridge, a unique natural attraction, is also just a short walk away.
Guests staying at this resort will be able to enjoy unlimited food and drinks from four different restaurants and several bars. You can also enjoy activities like water sports, pickleball, and mini golf.
Pineapple Beach Club
Pineapple Beach Club is another adults-only all-inclusive resort in Antigua that I think is perfect for a Caribbean getaway that combines relaxation with adventure. You’ll never be bored at this resort, which has a private beach, three swimming pools, tennis courts, and daily activities and entertainment.
When it comes to the accommodations, you can choose from spacious rooms and suites, some with private balconies. The most affordable options are the rooms facing the pool or the gardens, but if you want to splurge, you can also select an ocean-view room to wake up to the sound of the waves.
Cocobay Resort Antigua
Cocobay Resort Antigua is an adults-only all-inclusive resort that I’ve heard great things about. This highly-rated resort features airy cottages, some with private plunge pools and sea views.
Being located on the western side of the island, you can enjoy spectacular sunsets over the beach every night. The resort also offers water sports, multiple swimming pools, and a full-service spa.
Sandals Grande Antigua
For couples looking for a romantic getaway, Sandals Grande Antigua is a great choice. This is a couples-only all-inclusive resort on a private beach, offering a variety of rooms and suites for every budget.
Sandals is a major chain with resorts throughout the Caribbean, and I’ve noticed that many people love Sandals and have stayed in multiple different properties. This resort features water sports at the private beach, a swimming pool, a spa, a fitness center, tennis courts, and a free airport shuttle service.
Keyonna Beach Antigua
Another one of the best places to stay for couples is Keyonna Beach Antigua. This couples-only all-inclusive resort offers bright and airy private bungalows, each with its own plunge pool.
Keyonna Beach Antigua is a smaller and more intimate boutique resort, in contrast to a large chain like Sandals. You can enjoy the private beach, the swimming pool, or the all-inclusive restaurant and bar.
Admiral’s Inn and Gunpowder Suites
Moving away from all-inclusive resorts, my top recommendation would be the Admiral’s Inn and Gunpowder Suites, a historic hotel. Located in Nelson’s Dockyard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to the 18th century, and overlooking English Harbour, this is an amazing character-filled hotel.
The hotel has gorgeously renovated rooms, beautiful grounds, an infinity pool overlooking the harbor, and a small private beach area. Note that this hotel isn’t on a proper beach, but rather a harbor filled with yachts and sailboats. However, there are great public beaches like Pigeon Point just a mile or two away.
Hodges Bay Resort & Spa
Hodges Bay Resort & Spa is a great family-friendly resort in Antigua. I think this is the best place to stay for larger families or groups of adult friends or family traveling together, because you can choose from spacious villas offering one, two, three, or four bedrooms, giving everyone plenty of space.
The resort is situated in beautiful grounds, with a tranquil private beach and a two swimming pools — one that’s family-friendly, and one that’s adults-only. There’s also tennis courts and free water sports.
Tamarind Hills Resort & Villas
Tamarind Hills Resort & Villas is an amazing place to stay if you want to get away from it all. This secluded luxury resort is the perfect place to slow down and relax, and it offers chic, airy accommodations.
Situated on the western side of the island, you’ll be able to enjoy breathtaking sunsets every night. There’s a private beach and a swimming pool where you can relax during the day. Although this resort is family-friendly, I think the vibe is better suited to couples or groups of adult travelers instead.
Blue Waters Resort and Spa
Finally, one of the best resorts in Antigua is Blue Waters Resort and Spa. This family-friendly resort offers an all-inclusive option with all food and drink, as well as a cheaper rate that just includes breakfast.
Guests staying at this resort can enjoy access to a private beach, multiple swimming pools, several on-site restaurants and bars, and additional amenities like a spa, a fitness center, and tennis courts.
