Best Hotels in Bonaire
After visiting all three of the ABC Islands, I can honestly say that Bonaire is the hidden gem among them! Aruba and Curacao get more visitors each year, but I found Bonaire to be totally underrated.
Are you looking for the best hotels in Bonaire? Read on for my top picks on where to stay!
Bonaire is one of the ABC Islands in the Southern Caribbean. Like the other ABC Islands, Aruba and Curacao, Bonaire is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Bonaire has the smallest population of the ABC Islands, and it also receives the least amount of tourism. But Bonaire is certainly worth a visit.
In fact, this underrated destination just may be the best of the ABC Islands. I loved my time in Bonaire, and I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a quieter, nature-focused beach getaway.
Best Things to Do in Bonaire
Before I get into where to stay, let’s talk the best things I did in Bonaire.
Bonaire is known for having some of the best scuba diving in the world. The island is especially known for having great shore dive sites that don’t require a boat to get to. Much of Bonaire is protected land, and you can spot lots of wildlife, including bright pink flamingoes roaming around freely.
Speaking of pink, another attraction in Bonaire is its salt flats. Bonaire is a large producer of salt, famous for having some of the purest salt in the world. Some of the most unique sights in Bonaire are the large white mounds of salt and vividly-colored pink salt flats (which get their color from a microorganism.)
Here are some of the top activities to do in Bonaire:
- Go on a snorkeling excursion in Klein Bonaire Marine Park
- Take a clear-bottom kayak tour in the mangroves (and go snorkeling!)
- Enjoy a catamaran sailing trip plus snorkeling and a BBQ dinner
- Take a guided tour of the island to see all of Bonaire’s highlights
If you’re looking for a Caribbean destination that is full of unspoiled natural beauty, Bonaire is a great place to visit. It’s an eco-conscious island that hasn’t been overdeveloped and doesn’t suffer from over-tourism.
Where to Stay in Bonaire
Where should you stay in Bonaire? Unlike the other ABC Islands, Aruba and Curacao, Bonaire doesn’t have as many big chain hotels or all-inclusive resorts. Instead, you’ll find smaller boutique hotels and B&Bs.
Many of the hotels in Bonaire cater to diving, since that’s one of the most popular activities on the island.
Hotels in Bonaire are comparatively less expensive than those on some other Caribbean islands. It can be a little harder to get to (only a few cities in the US have nonstop flights to Bonaire, but otherwise you can fly in from nearby Aruba), but it’s worth the effort to visit this beautiful and unspoiled island destination.

- Best overall: B&B Kas ChuChubi
- Best all-inclusive: Van der Valk Plaza Beach & Dive Resort
