Best Hotels in Gordes, France
Are you looking for the best hotels in Gordes, France?
Read on for my top picks on where to stay in this charming Provençal town!
Often named one of the most beautiful villages in France, Gordes is situated on a hilltop in Provence, about one hour from Avignon. It’s located in the Luberon, a high elevation area famous for its lavender fields.
Aside from driving around the countryside to see lavender (which blooms from late June through mid July), Gordes is also close to the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque, a picturesque abbey that is surrounded by lavender blooms in the summer. There are various hikes and scenic drives nearby Gordes.
And although it’s a small town, it’s full of charming boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants.
How long do you need in Gordes? You can easily visit Gordes on a day trip from Avignon, Marseille, or another city, and this is what most people do. If you’re short on time, it’s definitely an option. However, spending a couple of nights in Gordes is even better, and it makes a great base for exploring the region.
After all the day trip crowds leave in the late afternoon, Gordes is absolutely magical. If you have your own car, it’s the perfect place to base yourself for exploring more of Provence on a road trip.
Where to Stay in Gordes
Since Gordes is such a small village (with a population of less than 2,000 people), there aren’t tons of options for where to stay. However, since it’s such a popular tourist destination, there is a good variety and you’ll find hotels and B&Bs for every budget, from extremely splurge-worthy to more affordable.
I recommend staying somewhere within walking distance of the town itself (all the options below are) so you can easily get to shops and restaurants, although you’ll still need a car to get around the region since public transportation is very limited in this part of France. All of the hotels below include free parking.
Here are my top picks for where to stay in Gordes, France:
- Best splurge-worthy luxury: Airelles Gordes, La Bastide
- Best affordable luxury: Le Jas de Gordes
- Best bed & breakfast: Domaine de l’Enclos
And here’s a full breakdown of the best hotels in Gordes.
